Vale Tony Hall

Tony Hall OBE

Croquet Victoria has just learnt of the death of Tony Hall OBE, past President of the World Croquet Federation and Treasurer and Senior Vice President of Croquet Australia.

Stephen Mulliner (past Secretary General of the World Croquet Federation) writes:

Tony was one of croquet's great characters.  He was a keen sports player all his life and played hockey for Australian Army teams into his 70s.  He was also involved in squash and swimming administration.

He took up  croquet after retiring as a full colonel and his administrative skills were soon valued at state and ACA level and then by the WCF.  He was an extraordinarily peripatetic WCF President whose cheerful presence at international croquet events was always to be expected.

Perhaps his greatest service was to promote the publication of the first edition of the WCF Rules of GC in 2001.

Tony led the fullest of lives and his citation in the WCF Hall of Fame is fascinating and well worth a read.
