Sunday 22nd February 2026 highlighted a great day of croquet at VCC. The weather although forecast to be wet and miserable was very kind to us with some light intermittent misty rain but the temperature remained warm with overcast skies and no wind. This allowed play to continue throughout the day .
We had over 40 people attend. Represented regions were Mooroopna, Redcliffs, Geelong, Drysdale, Queenscliff, Kew, Monash , Kyneton, Essendon and Brimbank. A big thankyou to all the players and coaches who made this day such a success. David Wren was available for AC coaching and Kevin Beard for GC coaching.
State players-Owen Dickinson and Damien Hadfield were on hand to encourage players and discuss options with scenario play.
Hopefully players who attended will go home with some additional ideas to think about and practice. Some players were very new to the game so we hope we have encouraged them and would love to see them back again next year. For those players who did attend we hope to see them at some future VCC tournaments. Specifically The Australia Day Tournament 26th January and the Handicap Singles Tournament Oct 31st & Nov 1st these events will be run in divisions and are hopefully encouraging new and high handicapped players to participate at these VCC events. VCC is such a wonderful facility and it is to be shared by all the croquet community regardless of handicap range or experience.
We hope to have a future day like this on the next VCA calendar- Likely to be Sunday 30th May 2027. We would love to see new and familiar faces to that event.
