Victorian Croquet Handicap Doubles and Singles Event

Victorian Croquet Handicap Doubles and Singles Event

The 27th to 30th November 2025 saw the Victorian Croquet Handicap Doubles and Singles take place at VCC. The weather varied throughout the 4 days with some rain towards the weekend, so players had to handle all conditions.

Congratulations especially to Nick Quirk (Quarry Hill) winner of Croquet Victoria Hcp Singles event.

Nick played exceedingly well throughout the 2-day tournament losing only 1 game out of the 7 and that game loss was 6/7!!  Nick plays off a handicap of 5 currently. All players won at least 1 game during the tournament with many competing for their 1st time in this event. Runner up was Kevin Young ( Morwell) with 5 wins and separated from third and fourth place getters Mary Tabrah (Taralgon) and Brian Taylor (Monash) by hoops with all finishing on 5 wins.

Well done to all players for the spirit in which matches were played over the 2 days.

doubles

The doubles event over Saturday and Sunday was an equally nail-biting event. The final game Sunday was the deciding factor on which team won the event with 3 possible winners depending on results of that final game.

Mary Cockett and James Turton won the event in 2023 and 2024, but this year decided to take new partners and make the event ultra-competitive. In the end both Mary , James and their new partners managed to make the final 6 which was a round robin event. Winner of the round robin won the championship.

Winners for 2025 were James and Vikki Turton  (Drysdale) with 4 wins, 1 loss and 9 hoops
