Hamilton Croquet Club
Members were saddened to hear of the recent death of Doris Lanyon, a life member of the Hamilton Croquet Club. Doris had celebrated her 100th birthday last year and was well on her way to her 101st birthday when she died.
Doris was made a life member of the club in 2005 in recognition of her many years of service to the club. She had been President, Treasurer and Secretary on the Committee as well as managing the annual tournament for a number of years.
Doris spent many hours coaching and encouraging new members (“always keep your balls together”) and enjoyed participating in pennant teams and championships. She had been club champion in all divisions.
In 2022 members were delighted when Doris agreed to the club’s Association tournament being renamed the Doris Lanyon Hamilton Tournament.
In 2023 Doris moved into aged care in Glen Waverley but still maintained a keen interest in the croquet club and its activities
