MCC Association Croquet Division 3 & Division 4 Tournament

MCC Association Croquet Division 3 & Division 4 Tournament

The Division 3 and 4 events of our annual open tournament were held from 14 to 17 August. Entries were at a maximum and we had play scheduled with 2 games per court over 3 courts from 9 am to 8pm most days.

15 entrants from 7 clubs competed over the 4 days in Division 4 (handicap 18-20) with Karyn-Camille King from Williamstown holding off Pauline Leditschke from Phillip Island in an enthralling, closely fought final 12-10.

In Division 3 (handicap 12 to 16) it was more clear cut where 7 entrants competed in a round robin with the eventual winner Cory Smith (MCC) a stand out. Mark Wilson (Brunswick) was runner up but all participants were clearly beaten by Cory who  pegged out (26 points) in 5 of his 6 matches. Cory only recently joined MCC with a stated aim of improving his understanding and skills of the Association version of the game. Cory recently came to the game when living next to the Elsternwick club and observing play in 2023. He has obviously excelled in the development of his game to date and has a promising future in the sport ahead of him.
