Shepparton Croquet Club Heritage badge presentation
On Wednesday 30 July Shepparton Croquet Club presented a Croquet Victoria Heritage badge to June Hoge as its worthy recipient.
June commenced with the club in 2011 at a time when the traditional form of the game, association croquet, was the predominant game played at Shepparton.
June had promoted golf croquet within the club since joining and by 2013 it was starting to gain some momentum within club play. This was especially the case for new players, with June central to its organisation and interest. June was instrumental in the establishment of the first golf croquet club championship being held in 2013. By 2015 the club held its first golf croquet social day and entered a golf croquet pennant team in the GVCA. June was naturally one of the inaugural pennant players and as a regular player was a member during the successful 2018 pennant season.
A significant contribution by June has been to provide considerable golf croquet umpiring and rules education to players, not only within the club but also for the GVCA and Croquet Victoria. These important roles are especially valued by all.
In club positions, June has been a golf croquet club captain, club treasurer, member of the centenary sub-committee (2022-2024), and media/publicity officer.
The badge was presented by club president Robyn McDougall in front of club members, who congratulated June on her contributions to the club.
