This club page has been accessed 23762 times since 25 April 2015 Kew photo gallery The Clubhouse was built in 1934 and as far as we can determine, was designed by Eric Nicholls, manager of the Melbourne Office and business partner of renowned Architect, Walter Burley Griffen. A new kitchen was installed at the end of 2007, a very big improvement on the original 1930s design. We received a Commonwealth Community Water Grant in January 2008 for a Storm-water Harvesting Project. Stormwater from the main car park is pumped into two 30 000 litre tanks to supply the lawn irrigation as required. Signifcant work on the clubhouse was organised by Boroondara Council in January /March 2010 as part of that Council's program of maintaining the longer term integrity of Council's total building infrastructure. We were very fortunate to be included in the 2009/2010 program. We now have the new ramp down to the lower court, new floor coverings and numerous other improvements to the beautiful old clubhouse building.
In 2018 we installed LED lighting to the upper court with the help of a grant from the Victorian Government. The Clubhouse is available for hire for a limited number of celebratory functions or corporate bonding events, preferably those involving attendees playing an easy to learn, fun type of croquet. Prices on application. The Club has a BYO licence for functions. We do not provide catering or the sale of drinks.
Please note the requirement for flat soled shoes. Casual except for Pennant and Shield matches and Tournaments. Flat Soled Shoes essential-(no heels) Tennis shoes, joggers and similar are O.K.)
