Graeme passed away in November 2024 after battling health issues.
Posted on: 2025-01-22 News Type: General VCA Open Doubles Tournament 22-23rd January 2025Under cloudy and cool conditions the VCA Open Doubles Event is underway at the Victorian Croquet Centre. We have 18 pairs participating in this tournament. It is lovely to see some new faces, Jenifer Rechter from WA, 2 of the under 21 boys- James Wombwell and Michael McLean who are pairing up to make a forceful doubles and show what the future could hold for croquet. Welcome also to Trevor and Julie Ware from Maldon playing in their 1st tournament at VCC. Entries are from throughout Victoria including a big Gippsland contingent,3 Drysdale players, 2 from Geelong, Ian Potter from Boort, Andy Barbero from Wangaratta and many metropolitan players. Competition is strong with many contenders for the 8 final places which will clarified this evening at end of play. Tomorrow Thursday will see finals commence in the morning and conclude in the afternoon. Friday 24th we will welcome the Australia Day players who are coming from throughout Victoria and we hope for an enjoyable and fun day. Saturday 25th - Monday 27th VCC will host the VCA Open Singles with 2 Tasmanian state players joining the host of Victorian players and our WA guest Below is showing some of the players in action today - all scores are available on croquetscores. Spectators over the next 5 days are welcome.

2025-01-27 The Victorian Open Doubles, Australia Day and Singles Tournaments were held at VCC this week.All tournaments went of extremely well with the weather for the 1st 5 days being very pleasant , no wind and overcast conditions for the mornings and slightly warmer in the afternoons. Thanks to the volunteer grounds helpers at VCC who had all 12 courts in excellent condition. |
