Posted on: 2025-01-20 News Type: General Vale -Graeme JonesIt is with great sadness that we advise of the passing of our croquet colleague and friend. Graeme passed away in November 2024 after battling health issues.
He leaves a wonderful legacy as a vibrant , enthusiastic club member, at Maryborough VRI Croquet Club and a very thoughtful positive contributor to the relatively new Goldfields Croquet Association. Graeme was passionate about his croquet and just loved being out on the court playing a game with others. He was a competent golf croquet player, an inspiring and experienced Level 3 Golf Croquet Coach and level 1 Ricochet coach, as well as a very knowledgeable Golf Croquet Referee. Always a gentleman with a quiet enthusiastic manner. He had the enviable ability to inspire, encourage and support others , especially in the development of their croquet skills and knowledge . He gave readily and generously of himself. He didn’t like having a fuss made, regarding what he was able to contribute. He took pleasure simply from seeing that what he did made a difference for others. He led comfortably from the side , encouraging and nurturing people to learn and develop, so they could move forward and progress at their own pace. To the very end he was always keen to share his knowledge and skills with the strong desire to assist and benefit others. Graeme competently ran numerous refereeing courses, as well as informative Golf Coaching programs, for individuals , various clubs and at a regional level He will be greatly missed, a person who quietly went about making a difference to many, both on a personal level, as well empowering others in their croquet pursuits. Graeme was many things- skilled croquet player, wonderful coach, skilled referee, stimulating teacher, encouraging tutor, understanding mentor, thoughtful contributor, confidant and wonderful friend. He has touched and influenced in his unique style, and we have gained greatly from engaging with him. We acknowledge him for who he was , what he was able to do and the difference he made on many different levels.
