Croquet Season Opening 2024

Croquet Season Opening was held  on 31st July   at Cairnlea VCC , to commence the 2024-25 season.

A big thank you to all the clubs who made an effort to attend. We had a social but competitive day of play  which ended in sunshine.

Around  50 players attended. Support came from Quarry Hill, Ballarat, Drysdale, Kyneton, Gisbourne/ Macedon, Brimbank, Essendon, Brunswick, Ringwood, Kew and Lilydale. Thank you for the effort made by these players, we hope to see more new faces at next year’s event.

Brian Foley – well known  to the Association croquet community ran the 1st hoop of the season.

Mike Cohn gave a presentation speech outlining Brian’s lengthy association with croquet and the huge effort he has put in over many years to support  AC at both VCA and ACA level. This is over many roles including referee, referee examiner, selector for AC and chairman of AC selectors.

Kate Patrick VCA president welcomed all attendees.

A light luncheon was held with games before and after the 1st official hoop was run. This allowed us to socialize and meet up with many new players. We hope to see everyone at VCC again in the near future.

Good luck everyone for the new 2024-25 croquet season.
