2024-01-22 Victorian Team for Eire Cup AnnouncedAs Chair of the AC Selection Committee, I am happy to announce the Victorian team for the AC Interstate Cup competition to be held in Hobart in March. The trophy is the coveted Eire Cup. The team is: 2023-12-19 New Rules online GC RulesThe WCF are pleased to be able to launch this new resource – an Online GC Rules Training and Study Pack. Comprising 28 individual modules, including videos, the complete rules of GC are covered in one Study Pack. There are separate modules aimed at those wishing to train towards becoming a referee.
Posted on: 2024-02-01 News Type: General AUSTRALIA DAY CELEBRATIONSOn Friday a mild 24◦ evening the Horsham Croquet Club commemorated the special day with 38 Golf Croquet Players in attendance while only 32 played. Members from Dimboola and Kalimna were also asked to join in at 5.30pm. President Donna Frost thanked everybody who attended and asked Morva Gilsenan to raise the flag while the Australian National Anthem was sung. Morva joined the club in 2005 and has held many positions in our club while also being involved volunteering in the Community, she is dealing withmany health issues, but Morva fortunately is a “fighter”
The ladies then served up a delicious variety dinner of cold meat and salads, followed by dessert after the 1st game. There was draw made up of 2 doubles games-divided into 2 sections to be played in the evening In the 1st doubles game- all players had to roll their ball until through the 1st hoop. In the 2nd doubles game- all player had to hit their ball backwards through their legs until they made the 1st hoop. Everyone’s tummies were either sore from eating or laughing too much. Section 1- David Wortley 15 hoops (won on a countback) Section 2- June Liddy 16 hoops Best Dressed – Robyn Devlin (R) Lucky Seat- Charles Rees (not his rollator) (Centre) Any one who thought they had an” outstanding” shot received some lollies Huge thankyou to all volunteers, workers and any person who helped for the successful evening, even the 2-legged young lads. Let’s hope we can all make it again next year, let’s respect, be kind and care for each other as that’s the “Aussie Way”
2024-01-26 Vic Open Doubles – 24th and 25th JanuaryThankyou to the players for a wonderful 2 day event held at Cairnlea . We had 16 doubles entries so a full 2 days of play with many new faces to the Vic Doubles. Weather gifted us 2 pleasant days of play. All players performed admirably with strong competition. We especially welcomed the WA team of Brett and Janine McHardy who are well known to Australian croquet. 2024-02-01 Australia Day Tournament on 26th January 2024VCC hosted the Aust Day Tournament on 26th January and thanks go to all the participating 36 players. It was wonderful to see so many clubs throughout Victoria represented. 6 divisions were played and we all had a very enjoyable day with winners and runners-up from a variety of regions and clubs. Catering at Cairnlea by RNB croquet club was very successful and we concluded Australia Day with a BBQ dinner which was well attended and allowed many players to relax, socialize and meet other competitors from around Victoria. |
