Victorian Open Singles Tournament – held 28th and 29th January at Cairnlea

This was a tournament that showcased some of Victoria’s best players and  the quarter, semifinal and finals were exceptionally high quality matches.

All matches were played under very hot conditions Saturday – fortunately the afternoon cloud cover enabled us to continue play. Sunday was a  cooler day and condition for playing much improved and pleasant for players.

Thankyou again to Lester , Owen , Kevin for court preparation with Chas and Richard Hingst also assisting with set up for the singles. Special thanks must go also to all players who assisted in removal of hoops and cleaning up post their games  on Sunday . Many hands definitely make light work.

Vic Open Doubles

This event was played  Thursday 26th and  Friday 27th January at Cairnlea in beautiful summer weather. Thanks again to the grounds crew at Cairnlea for having the courts in such great order- thanks to Lester, Kevin and Owen.

Thanks also to the referees Graham Smith and Terry Wilson who attended for both days and Tom Lacey who assisted on the Friday. Although in the background most of the time there assistance to support the game and allow it to run smoothly is invaluable

Special mention to Ian and Katrina Peterson who kindly drove from Geelong to Cairnlea both days to assist with catering as RNB café was unable to be on site these days. This meant players had all food needs met at Cairnlea with some beautiful salad rolls and treats enjoyed by all. With their usual generosity Katrina and Ian then donated the profits back to Cairnlea/ VCA. This couple continue to provide enormous  support and commitment to croquet behind the scenes and this generosity often goes unknown by many.
