A new event called “Not the Eire Cup” was held at the Victorian Croquet Centre 12-14 March 2021. The idea for the event arose because the real Eire Cup to be held in Sydney at this time was cancelled due to the risk of border closures resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Updated Return to Croquet Guidelines

This update was circulated to clubs on 30 March and is now available for download.

The main new requirement is that clubs ask everyone attending to register their attendance via the State Government QR app, or an app which is compatible with it.

For detail, see https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/qrcode.

Other significant provisions under the latest Restricted Activity Directions (no 19) and the Stay Safe Directions (no 18):

  • The maximum number of people inside or outside a sporting facility is governed by the space available and the current density quotient of 2 square metres per person.
  • Any shared sporting equipment must still be sanitised between uses.
  • Sporting clubs are still required to have updated COVID-Safe Plans.
  • Masks are mandatory only on public transport and in public places when you are likely to be closer than 1.5m to someone else.

The full Directions can be downloaded from the DHHS page at https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/victorias-restriction-levels-covid-19.

Inspectors (“Men in Black”) and Sports and Recreation observers (in street clothes) are currently visiting sports venues to check practices against COVID plans.
