Victorian AC Women’s and Men’s Championships
The Women’s and Men’s Championships were held at Cairnlea in unsettled Melbourne Spring weather on the weekend of 26-27 October.
The courts were in good condition and reasonably quick with some Spring growth evident.
Cup Day For Cancer Centre
Croquet players from clubs across Gippsland travelled to Morwell Croquet Club to take part in their annual Melbourne Cup Day fundraiser. It was especially great to welcome Jan and Mavis who had made the long drive down from Orbost.
Fun, food and croquet was the order of the day.

Excellent AC tournament at Leongatha
Leongatha's annual Association Tournament got off to a great start on Monday 11 November.
The competition was very well supported by 18 playing members entering from clubs all around Victoria, including from Ringwood, Brunswick, Warrnambool, Terang, Brighton, Sale, Traralgon, Phillip Island and Leongatha.
On Monday, the players had a lovely warm sunny day. This turned quite cold and wet on Tuesday but that didn't deter anyone. With two more days to go the competition was close.
Day 3, Wednesday.
Congratulations to the winners of Section 1 and Section 3. Section 1 was won by Roger Lee from Brighton Croquet Club who won 5 out of his 6 games, followed by Andrew Wootton from the Brunswick Croquet Club who pipped Colin Crawford from Traralgon on hoops. Both Andrew and Colin won 3 games each with Andrew winning with +30 hoops and Colin +4.
Section 3 had more games to play on Thursday, but Liz Wallis from the Ringwood Croquet Club was already the clear winner, winning 5 out of 5 games. Congratulations Liz!

Well done to everyone.
Thank you to Thelma and Ron for your expert refereeing over four days. We couldn't play without the enormous efforts of Graeme and Thelma who once again produced excellent lawns. Thank you to the members who helped in the kitchen making lunches and also the afternoon teas.
Bakers Delight spoilt us every day with their yummy scones and buns, their continued support of croquet is greatly appreciated.
Overall a hugely successful tournament.
Exciting GC Metro Shield final
The Melbourne Spring weather was mild for the Shield Handicap Final on Thursday 14 November.
A crowd of supporters had a great day watching from the comfort of the Cairnlea building, the cubbies and outdoor seats.
It was another great Shield final, with the early lead taken by Sandringham winning all 3 games in the first session.
Wimmera CA golf croquet Pennant final
Our pennant final was played on neutral courts at Kalimna Croquet Club on Monday 25 November between Horsham Banksia and Dimboola Green.
It was a very entertaining, friendly and suspenseful match.
