Second Selectors GC Invitation, 2019

The Second Selectors Invitation Tournament was held at Cairnlea over the weekend of 24 and 25 August. It was run over two days with 30 players competing in four round robin blocks of 19 point games.

Entry was by way of invitation and these were issued to a range of established and rapidly developing players. It was really pleasing to have a player under the age of 21 in the field.

Season opening at Horsham Croquet Club

The running of the first hoop opening our 2019 - 2020 season was performed by Sunil Bhalla from the Horsham Rural City Council.

Over 40 members from Dimboola, Kalimna Park and Horsham Croquet clubs attended.

Decisive win to Peter Landrebe in Australian GC Gold Medal

Over the three days from 4 to 6 September, Cairnlea has been host to the Australian GC Gold Medal. 

This event is one of the elite Golf Croquet events of the season.  Each state conducts their qualifying event and the six winners compete in a best of three round robin format to determine the Gold Medallist.  The runner up receives a Silver Medal and the other state winners receive an ACA Bronze Medal.

Peter Landrebe (NSW) was the winner with 5 matches won.  Peter did lose three games on his way to his win but none of his opponents was able to win the two games necessary to win the match.  Runner-up was Gordon Giles (Qld) who lost only the one match to Peter. 

The other competitors – Brett McHardy, (WA), Jim Grindrod (SA), John Colquhoun (Tas)  and John van der Touw (Vic) – will be presented with an ACA Bronze Medal in recognition of their success at state level.

Victoria wins the GC Interstate Shield

The thirteenth annual contest for the World Croquet Federation Shield, the trophy for the Croquet Australia Golf Croquet Interstate Teams competition, was held at the Victorian Croquet Centre 11 to 15 September 2019, with Victoria retaining its title.

Teams representing all six states contested for the shield over the five days in a format which saw each team meet each other team in a round robin.

Australian Men’s and Women’s GC Singles Championships

As a lead up to the Interstate Shield, the Victorian Croquet Centre hosted both the Australian Women’s Singles Championships and the Australian Men’s Singles Championships.

The events ran in parallel over four days, from 7 to 10 September.
