Croquet for Cancer

Sue Elliott and George Harris, of Morwell Croquet Club, were pleased to be able to present a cheque for $500 to Megan Hecker at the Gippsland Cancer Care Centre recently. Megan is the Nurse Unit Manager of the Chemotherapy Unit.



Sunny day for Wimmera CA season opening

On Wednesday 14 August President Lyn Creasey welcomed 24 players from three different clubs in the Wimmera to play Golf Croquet at the Horsham Croquet Club for the opening of Wimmera’s 2019-2020 season.

Season opening at Horsham Croquet Club

The running of the first hoop opening our 2019 - 2020 season was performed by Sunil Bhalla from the Horsham Rural City Council.

Over 40 members from Dimboola, Kalimna Park and Horsham Croquet clubs attended.

President Betty welcomed everyone, acknowledging the traditional land owners while also paying respect to our past and present members who have made this club to the standard we enjoy today.

We had a full field of players with some sharing positions, 3 games were played including all 13 hoops and changing partners. Everyone enjoyed the day concluding with afternoon tea and presentations.

Division 1

Winner: John Moar (D.C.C.) 1 game 20 hoops

R/Up:   John Pipkorn (H.C.C) 1 game 18 hoops

Division 2

Winner:  Marj. Weidermann (H.C.C) 3 games 27 hoops

R/Up:    Joan Hiscock (H.C.C) 3 games 23 hoops

Division 3

Winner:   Allan Wray (H.C.C) 3 games 23 hoops

R/Up:      Dawn Scott (H.C.C) 2 games 23 hoops

Special mention to Glenn Price who scored two hoops in one stroke and also to Elaine Nicholls scoring a hoop from a long distance.

Second Selectors GC Invitation, 2019

The Second Selectors Invitation Tournament was held at Cairnlea over the weekend of 24 and 25 August. It was run over two days with 30 players competing in four round robin blocks of 19 point games.

Entry was by way of invitation and these were issued to a range of established and rapidly developing players. It was really pleasing to have a player under the age of 21 in the field.



Decisive win to Peter Landrebe in Australian GC Gold Medal

Over the three days from 4 to 6 September, Cairnlea has been host to the Australian GC Gold Medal. 

This event is one of the elite Golf Croquet events of the season.  Each state conducts their qualifying event and the six winners compete in a best of three round robin format to determine the Gold Medallist.  The runner up receives a Silver Medal and the other state winners receive an ACA Bronze Medal.
