New WCF Golf Croquet Rules
The World Croquet Federation is releasing a new set of Golf Croquet rules later this year.
All Golf Croquet players are being given the opportunity to comment on the draft version.
AC ranking events: Gold, Silver, Bronze
On the weekend of 3/4 March, Cairnlea hosted the annual Victorian Gold Cup, Silver and Bronze Shields. Players are invited to these events purely on their ranking.
The top eight available players go into the Gold Cup, the next eight into the Silver Shield, and another eight are invited to the Bronze Shield. As one player was forced to withdraw late in the proceedings, the Bronze Shield ended with seven players.

Country Week success at Swan Hill
The 2018 Country Week AC Tournament at Swan Hill was a great success for those who were able to make the trip.
The weather was wonderful, the courts were in great condition and the Swan Hill Croquet members made us feel welcome and fed us all too well!!
The event was organised into four sections. Notwithstanding the one player who thought we started a day later we managed to play all the games by Wednesday afternoon.
Section 1 was won by David Johnston (Ballarat Alexandra). David won all his four games and played very steadily. Roger Bird (Quarry Hill) and Bill Humphreys (Golden Square) both won two games with Roger ahead on nett hoops.
Section 2 was won by Mignon Johnston (Ballarat Alexandra) from John Grieve (Williamstown). Both won four of their five games, but Mignon had the better nett hoops.
Section 3 had four players after one of our entrants had major car troubles which prevented her getting to Swan Hill. We re-arranged the draw and played a double round robin. After five rounds Janet Richardson (Charlton) was a clear leader and we passed on the final round. Janet won four of her five games to head Chris Eiffert (Quarry Hill) and Lois Munro (Swan Hill), with three wins each.
Section 4 was headed by Mark Wilson (Brunswick) who won all four of his games. Joy Davis (Traralgon) was runner up with Bruce Uhe (Portland) in third placing.
Pic below shows the four winners.
L to R: Mignon Johnston, David Johnston, Mark Wilson, Janet Richardson.

All results are on Croquetscores.
Our thanks to Lois Munro for her great support. The ladies who provided morning tea and lunch were an integral part of the event and we all were very grateful. Another successful Country Week… let’s hope the numbers improve for next year.
In 2019 the event returns to Swan Hill. We expect it to be held a week later than this year to avoid the Labour Day weekend. Keep your eye out for the date in the calendar and book your seat. We have a great time and Swan Hill is a great place to visit.
Kew AC Tournament:
Divs 3 and 4
Between Friday 23 March and Sunday 25 March Kew Croquet Club held its Division 3 and 4 tournament.
There were six players in each division - a smaller number than in the past, but very enthusiastic.
Players included members from far afield: Corowa in NSW, Bright in NE Victoria, and The Briars Heritage club at Mount Macedon on the Mornington Peninsula. We also had players from more local clubs, including Ringwood, Monash, MCC, Brunswick, and Kew.
Victorian Golf Croquet Bronze Medal
The Victorian Division of the ACA Golf Croquet Bronze Medal was held at Cairnlea from 6 to 8 April.
This event is the qualifying tournament for the ACA Gold Medal to be held in Sydney later in the year. World Rankings for Victorian players are used to select the invited field with eight players competing in a full round robin over three days with each match being the best of three games.
