ACA Bronze Medal (VCA Gold Medal)
The Bronze Medal is held each season to find a Victorian player to represent our state in the ACA Gold Medal.

The Gold Medal is played during the week leading into the Eire Cup and Men’s and Women’s Championship. The runner-up in the ACA event receives the Silver Medal and the four remaining state winners each receive a Bronze Medal. The Gold Medal is among the most prestigious events in the Association Calendar.
This year the VCA Selectors invited 8 top ranked players to contact a round robin event over two days on the weekend 12/13 December, played at Cairnlea.
The 8 players who contested the event were Stephen Forster, Kevin Beard, Malcolm Fletcher, Rod Kirk, Simon Watkins, Elaine Coverdale, Josh Wilson and Gareth Bushill. On Saturday players contested four rounds and the remaining three on Sunday.

There was some extremely good play. The courts were a challenge as they had been recently cored and kept all players on their mettle. That there were only 5 triple peels in the event indicates the difficulties the court presented. The players handled the challenges well and the spectators had many fine moments of watching highly skilful players show why they are at the top of the rankings in Victoria.
Malcolm Fletcher won 6 of his 7 games - losing only to Kevin Beard. Stephen Forster was runner-up with 5 wins and 2 losses (to Malcolm and Elaine) with Simon Watkins finishing ahead of Rod Kirk on net hoops for third placing.
Malcolm will now represent Victoria in the ACA Gold Medal at Cairnlea in March. We wish Malcolm well in his pursuit of his first Gold Medal.
