Description of Background/Expertise

I am returning to Council to represent Goldfields Association as Regional Director, on the resignation of the current director.

My previous involvement with Council was in 2011, during which time I was instrumental in initiating the need for Directors to assist Council in finding the best people to work on the various working groups by providing their CVs to Council, as their introduction to this workplace.

In my formal working life, which ended in retirement about 10 years ago, and was interrupted by having children during the 70s, I began as a meteorologist with the Commonwealth Bureau of Meteorology.  Returning after the children were at school, I taught physics and maths at Swinburne Tech, (now University) then completed a Diploma of Education while teaching at other Technical schools.

During the early 80s I was employed by the Melbourne and Metropolitan Board of Works as an Information Officer, responsible for answering written queries from the public, attending to reception and taking tour groups to the Board’s properties, such as Winneke water treatment plant, Werribee farm and the Carrum Sewage Treatment plant.  I also did presentations at schools.

From 1986 to 1992 I developed and ran my own sole trader business in active sportswear, before moving to SW Victoria where I returned to teaching maths at Tafe.   I then retrained  in Textile Design, acting as artist in residence before continuing teaching in the new role as a textiles teacher at Tafe.

My interests have included 18 years as a member of the Basin Theatre Group, as an actor, a stage manager and later as a director.  Playing bridge and tennis, gardening and then croquet were my other activities. I have also been involved in major home renovations and finally the building of our owner built home and other buildings on our land near Castlemaine.

Qualifications: BSc, Dip Met., Dip Ed., Dip Art

Interest and Involvement in the Sport

In croquet, I have played in the Victorian AC state team, the GC state team, the Australian Trans Tasman team, and World Championships in both codes, several times.

I am a level 3 AC coach and qualified referee in both codes, but not actively engaged.
