In the annual Rich River Anzac Classic we were very excited in Event 1 to have 15 top association players with handicaps -2 to 2.5 from Sydney and Canberra and Melbourne and country Victoria and one player all the way from Ireland. We were treated to some excellent association croquet by some very talented players. In block 1. A very impressive run of 7 wins out of 7 games and a total of 104 net hoops saw Rich River's Kenn Boal into the final. In block 2 Chris Grant of Ringwood won his block with 5 wins out of 7 and 24 nett hoops and he and Kenn faced off in the final. Kenn won with the final score of 26 hoops to Chris' 10. Third spot went to Kevin Beard of Yarrawonga who was the runner up in Block 1 with 5 wins and 44 nett hoops. Runner up in Block 2, Sandy Greig of Ireland took out 4th spot with 4 wins and 39 nett hoops. In Event 2. Congratulations Chris Eiffert of Quarry Hill for winning, Mignon Johnson of Ballarat took second spot, just ahead of Lyle Carey of Mooroopna.
What an enjoyable two days we've had at Rich River Croquet Club! We had 40 players from 11 Victorian and NSW clubs compete in our inaugural Golf Croquet Handicap Doubles Tournament. The weather was very kind to us and the courts were in great condition, able to withstand the pounding of 91 games. The Tournament was played in two blocks, with the winners of each block competing in a final. Block 1 was won by John and Mary James of Deniliquin They beat John Young and Ian Grose of Shepparton. Block 2 was won by Dave Hocking of Echuca Moama and Kaye Joyce of Rich River. John and Mary James won the day with a score of 7-5 against Dave and Kaye.
The croquet courts at Rich River were alive with fun yesterday when we hosted our social "Soup and Bun" Day. We had 58 entries from several NSW and Victorian clubs and all enjoyed the friendly competition and a few laughs. The courts were in great condition and although cool, the sun was shining and the weather was perfect for croquet. After we all finished our four games of doubles, Beryl Ash of Echuca Moama and Russ Smyth of Rich River were tied in the lead and played a tie breaker game of 5 hoops. After 4 hoops the score was 2 hoops each, and Beryl played the last hoop beautifully to take the win. Congratulations on a great day's play Beryl! The Echuca Moama crew did well on the day. Not only did Beryl win the day, but members Jan Tracey and John Alstin won both door prizes! Many thanks to all our club members who helped make the day a great success.

Richard into third place with a nett hoop score of +10 to Richard’s +5. On Sunday players with the handicap range 5 to 8 completed in friendly but highly competitive play.
