Close results in Goulburn Valley GC Singles

The annual GVCA open GC singles tournament was hosted by the Rich River Croquet Club on 14 and 15 February.

Twenty-nine players from eleven clubs competed on Day One in very trying, windy conditions.

Day Two weather was almost perfect.

Overall we saw some great croquet in all divisions, with some very close results.

Women star in President's Eights

VCC was recently host to the 2018 ACA Golf Croquet President’s Eights. This prestigious event is played in four groups of eight. The first three eights are selected by world rankings. Players make an expression of interest to compete, and the top 24 Australian ranked players fill the top three eights. A fourth eight is the next eight ranked and available women players.

Fleur Brockway (WA) won the First Eight - the first woman to win it since these events have been held - and Judy Wembridge (Vic) won the Second Eight.

Cairnlea Classic supports Eire Cup players

The weekend of the Vic v Vic A practice match saw a small but committed group of Association Croquet players providing support for the team.

This event has been held for the past two seasons to ensure a number of players are in attendance for the introduction of the Victorian AC Team, who will compete in the Eire Cup in South Australia in March.

AC ranking events: Gold, Silver, Bronze

On the weekend of 3/4 March, Cairnlea hosted the annual Victorian Gold Cup, Silver and Bronze Shields.  Players are invited to these events purely on their ranking.

The top eight available players go into the Gold Cup, the next eight into the Silver Shield, and another eight are invited to the Bronze Shield.  As one player was forced to withdraw late in the proceedings, the Bronze Shield ended with seven players.
