Strong interstate presence at Horsham GC tournament
Horsham Croquet Club hosted its annual tournament on 18 - 20 October.
Travellers from South Australia featured strongly on the winners’ lists.
Horsham Croquet Club Tournament Manager Rae Hill said it was fantastic. “The 22 people from South Australia were blown away with it,” she said. “They came to play and were in awe. They have already started putting their names down for next year… I hadn’t even thought about that yet.”
There were 71 participants in total at the tournament. “There were very good players involved in the tournament, from one end of the spectrum to another,” Hill said.
Morwell Croquet Club supports Relay for Life
Most of us know someone affected by cancer and Relay For Life is to honour those who have lost their fight against cancer and to honour those who are living with cancer today. Fundraising is our way of fighting back to live in a cancer free world.
Last weekend I was one of many relayers who took part in the Latrobe Relay for Life 2017 at the Tyers Football grounds.

Pat Hopkins: 50 years a croquet player
Croquet Victoria and Morwell Croquet Club today congratulated Pat Hopkins on achieving fifty years as a croquet player in Victoria.
Pat joined Moe Croquet Club on 30 October 1967, and became a member of Morwell Croquet Club in 1973, when the Moe club closed.
Pat is now a life member of Morwell Croquet Club, having been the club President, the club Secretary (three times), and the Secretary of the Gippsland Croquet Association (for five years).
She has been an Association Croquet champion in various divisions at club and regional level, including being five times club champion in Division 1, and she played AC Pennant for over thirty years. Since 2009 she has played in the Golf Croquet Pennant. At the age of 93 she is still a formidable player.
Pat was a referee at local and national level for forty years, from 1974 to 2014. She also lends a hand behind the scenes at whatever is required, whether it is making soup for tournament lunches or washing up after lunch.
At Morwell’s Cup Day gathering Pat's fifty year milestone was celebrated by the club and she was presented with a letter of congratulation from Jim Clement, President of Croquet Victoria.
Well done Pat!
