Geoff Reilley has been recognised for his service to football and cricket with a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours. Geoff has been a lifetime player, coach, and official, and took up GC croquet in 2010. He's hoping to devote more time to croquet, and Monash CC hopes he does too. A well deserved honour for a great sportsman.
Our White team made it to the semifinals, but was knocked out. That's the end of autumn shield. We expect to field two teams in the spring season.
Our open golf croquet tournament was held in April, see RHS side panel for results. Excellent weather and a good turn-up from country and metro clubs helped make for a very enjoyable two days.
The club Fun Doubles tournament had its biggest entry so far, and was enjoyed by all.
The Reen Hancorne trophy for newer players with higher handicaps has been postponed until spring.
Congratulations to Judy Newman, who won section three of the Regional GC challenge for EMCA.
Our inaugural torch-light croquet evening was a great success. It was preceeded by a Thai meal. We held a biggest morning tea fund-raiser for the Cancer Councila, combined with a bring-a-friend morning. Several ex-members joined us, and we raised $636.
