Eire Cup Day Two - Vics play NSW

Traditional rivalry in Australian sport seems to centre on battles between Victoria and New South Wales. It matters not the sport. And so it is in croquet.

Day 2 of the Eire Cup featured the clash between these two rivals. The matches were played at the split venues of Kingston and Eastern Shores Croquet Clubs. Both clubs have great views of the Derwent. The lawns at both were in excellent condition. A highlight of this Eire Cup must be the hospitality of the clubs. At all venues we have been welcomed and fed well. Too well!

The croquet was high class.

Eire Cup Day One - Vics off to a good start

The Vics jumped out of the blocks in great fashion at New Town Croquet Club on Day 1 of the Eire Cup. Their opponents were Queensland.  The weather was overcast. The courts were in good condition with impressive views across the sporting complex. The scene was set for a full day of croquet.

Robert Fletcher and Alix Verge win in Hobart

At the ACA Men's and Women's AC singles titles in Hobart this week, the winners were Robert Fletcher (Victoria) and Alix Verge (NSW).

Runners up were Ian Dumergue (WA) and Alison Sharpe (NSW).

Summer weather for autumn tournament

With summer still in the air, the scene was set for a great weekend at Williamstown Croquet Club.

The clubhouse has recently been refurbished and equipped with air conditioning, the lawns were in excellent condition after the World GC games, the weather was idyllic and the entry was comprehensive.
